Classe 100 loses Wi-Fi: what to check on your Classe 100X

Monitor BTicino Classe 100X16E blanco con pantalla y símbolo WiFi, para la guía sobre pérdidas de conexión.

Is your Classe 100 losing WiFi, appearing disconnected in the app, or no longer notifying you when someone rings? Before resetting it or considering a replacement, it’s worth identifying the model and distinguishing a connection problem from a notification issue.

Quick answer: if you have a Classe 100X, check that the 2.4 GHz network is enabled, that there is coverage near the monitor, and that the WiFi name or password hasn’t changed. Then check that you’re using the app for your generation of equipment. Don’t start with a factory reset.

First: Classe 100 or Classe 100X?

The name matters: BTicino distinguishes the Classe 100 for indoor use from the Classe 100X, which includes WiFi connectivity for managing functions from your phone. This guide focuses on the connected Classe 100X / Classe 100X16E; it does not attribute WiFi connectivity to the entire Classe 100 range.

Check the documentation for your monitor and the app used to set it up. Don’t disassemble the equipment to identify it: if you don’t have this information, contact the maintenance installer.

Not all Classe 100X models use the same app

Earlier versions use Door Entry CLASSE100X, while the new version with Netatmo uses Home + Security. The manufacturer states that, with this generation change, reference 344682 remained unchanged. So the reference alone isn’t enough to choose the app.

Don’t switch apps as a generic fix. Check the generation and follow its documentation. Update the relevant app from your phone’s official app store.

1. Identify what’s failing

  • The WiFi indicator is flashing: Legrand support states that WiFi is enabled, but the Classe 100X isn’t connected to the network. Check the router and credentials.
  • The app shows the monitor as disconnected: check both the monitor’s WiFi connection and the home’s Internet access.
  • You can access the monitor through the app, but don’t receive alerts: check the app’s notification settings on your phone. Missing alerts alone don’t prove that the monitor has lost its WiFi connection.
  • Functions on the monitor are also failing: test the call, audio, video, and door release separately. Don’t automatically attribute these problems to the Internet; the installation needs a specific check.

2. Check the 2.4 GHz network

The Classe 100X requires an 802.11 b/g/n 2.4 GHz WiFi network. A network operating exclusively at 5 GHz isn’t compatible.

If the problem started after changing the router or network settings, check that the 2.4 GHz band is still enabled. Legrand recommends temporarily disabling 5 GHz as a diagnostic test. If you don’t know how to change these settings, ask your Internet provider or network administrator for help; there’s no need to disable 5 GHz permanently as a matter of course.

3. Check the network name, password, and Internet access

Check that the router is switched on and has Internet access. If someone has changed the network name or password, check the monitor’s WiFi settings by following the manual for your version.

Your phone’s ability to browse using mobile data doesn’t confirm that your home Internet is working. To check, connect your phone to your home WiFi and confirm that you can browse without using mobile data.

4. Check coverage where the monitor is installed

WiFi signal quality is one of the factors the manufacturer identifies as affecting remote operation. Check the signal level on the equipment by following its documentation. A good connection next to the router doesn’t prove that the signal reaches the monitor properly.

If coverage is insufficient or the connection is unstable in that area, ask the network administrator to check the access point’s location and 2.4 GHz coverage. You don’t need to work on the video door entry system’s wiring to perform these network checks.

5. If it disconnects intermittently

Note whether the dropouts occur at a particular time or coincide with router changes. Network checks recommended by Legrand include disabling any router sleep function and checking WiFi channel selection: automatic or channels 1, 6, or 11.

Make one change at a time, or ask the network administrator to make them, so you can identify which one has an effect. Don’t disable the router’s security or open ports indiscriminately.

6. If the problem is calls on your phone

If the monitor is accessible in the app but calls aren’t coming through, check that the app is up to date and allowed to send notifications. BTicino’s official troubleshooting guide also recommends checking the monitor’s date and time and whether firmware updates are available.

Use only the update procedures specified for your equipment. Don’t install files for another version or confuse the Door Entry CLASSE100X instructions with those for Home + Security.

Should you reset the WiFi or erase all settings?

These aren’t the same operation. Before performing a network reset or a full reset, check the manual for your generation and find out what settings will be lost and how to reconnect it to the app.

BTicino recommends resetting and reconfiguring certain older devices using Door Entry to address specific issues, but that doesn’t make a full reset the first step for every disconnection. First rule out network, credentials, coverage, and app issues. If you need to reset it and aren’t sure how, contact the installer or official support.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Classe 100X work with 5 GHz WiFi?

No. The documented connection for the Classe 100X is 2.4 GHz WiFi. If you have a dual-band router, check that this band is enabled.

Why is the WiFi indicator flashing?

According to Legrand support, it means WiFi is enabled but the equipment isn’t connected to the network. Check that the router is switched on and that the credentials haven’t changed.

Do all devices with reference 344682 use the same app?

You can’t tell from the reference alone. BTicino kept reference 344682 when it introduced the new version with Netatmo and Home + Security. Identify the generation before reconfiguring it.

Does a phone that doesn’t notify me mean the WiFi connection has been lost?

Not necessarily. If you can access the monitor through the app, also check your phone’s notifications and relevant updates.

When should an installer step in?

If local functions are also failing, the equipment restarts, you can’t identify its version, or the dropouts continue after checking the network. Electrical measurements and work on the power supply or wiring must be carried out by a qualified professional.

In summary: identify the Classe 100X and its generation, check the 2.4 GHz network, credentials, and coverage, and distinguish a lost connection from missing notifications. This sequence helps avoid unnecessary resets and replacements without a diagnosis.
