Do you have a broken or old Tegui Serie 8 monitor and want to replace it without calling a technician? In this guide, we explain how to do it in less than 10 minutes, without construction work and without advanced electrical knowledge.
What is the Tegui Serie 8 monitor?
The Tegui Serie 8 monitor (ref. 374494) is one of the most installed models in homes and communities in Spain over recent years. It works with the 2-wire BUS SCS system from Tegui/BTicino, which greatly simplifies its installation and replacement: you only need two wires, with no polarity.
When should you replace your monitor?
- The screen does not turn on or shows a distorted image
- No audio is heard or there is interference
- The door opener button does not respond
- The monitor is over 10 years old and starts to fail
- You want to modernize the installation without changing the wiring
What you need
- Replacement monitor Tegui Serie 8 (ref. 374494)
- Small flathead screwdriver
- Mobile phone to photograph the current connection
- 5-10 minutes
Steps to replace the Tegui Serie 8 monitor
1. Cut the power
Locate the video intercom circuit breaker in your electrical panel and turn it off. Safety first.
2. Remove the old monitor
Loosen the screws of the casing (usually at the bottom or back) and carefully separate the monitor from the wall. You will see two wires connected to the terminals.
3. Photograph the connection
Before touching anything, take a photo with your mobile phone of the connected wires. Although the 2-wire system has no polarity, it is good practice to document the existing installation.
4. Disconnect the wires
Loosen the terminal screws and carefully remove the two wires from the old monitor without damaging the insulation.
5. Connect the new monitor
Insert the same wires into the terminals of the new Tegui Serie 8 (ref. 374494) and tighten them well. Remember: in the 2-wire BUS SCS system, the order of the wires does not matter.
6. Fix the monitor and test
Screw the new monitor to the wall, restore power in the electrical panel, and test from the outdoor panel that the image, audio, and door opener work correctly.
Is it compatible with my installation?
The 374494 monitor is exclusively compatible with Tegui/BTicino 2-wire BUS SCS installations. It is not compatible with 4+N wire systems (conventional analog).
Don’t know which system you have? It’s easy: if you see only 2 wires on the terminal of your current monitor, you have a 2-wire system. If you see 4 or more wires, you have a 4+N system.
