Are you looking to install or replace the intercom system in your building or condominium? This guide helps you choose the best solution among the Tegui and BTicino ranges, two brands from the Legrand group known for their reliability and compatibility with existing installations.
Intercom or video intercom: which solution for your building?
The first decision is to choose between an audio-only system (intercom) or an audio + video system (video intercom). Here are the differences:
- Audio intercom: an economical solution, ideal if the building already has 4+N wire cabling. Perfect for condominiums with a limited budget.
- Video intercom: allows you to see who is ringing before opening. Increased security, recommended for new buildings or renovations with 2-wire BUS SCS cabling.

What type of wiring do you have?
The type of wiring in your building determines the system to install:
- 4+N wires (conventional): the most common in older buildings. Compatible with Tegui audio kits and Series 7 and Series Europa video intercoms.
- 2-wire BUS SCS: modern technology, allows installation of Classe 100, Classe 300, and Sfera New video intercoms with minimal wiring.
- 3 coaxial cables: conventional video system, compatible with Tegui range monitors.
Tegui and BTicino: what’s the difference?
Tegui is the brand aimed at the Spanish market, while BTicino is its European and international equivalent. Both belong to the Legrand group and share the same technology — so they are fully compatible with each other. At Tegui Distel, we are official distributors of both brands.
