Intercom Systems for Communities and Condominiums: Complete Guide Tegui BTicino

Portero automƔtico para comunidades y condominios: guƭa completa Tegui BTicino

If you are looking to install or upgrade the intercom system in your building, this guide will help you choose the best option. Whether you call it a community of neighbors (Spain), condominium (Mexico, Chile, Peru), consortium (Argentina), or co-ownership, Tegui and BTicino systems have a solution tailored to your needs.

Audio or video: what does your community need?

The first decision is to choose between an audio intercom system (voice only) or a video intercom system (voice + image). Here we explain the differences:

  • Audio intercom: more affordable, ideal if the building already has 4+N wire cabling and does not need a camera. Perfect for communities with a tight budget.
  • Video intercom: allows you to see who is calling before opening. Greater security, especially recommended for new buildings or renovations with 2-wire cabling.

What type of wiring do you have?

The type of wiring in your building determines which system you can install:

  • 4+N wires (conventional): the most common in older buildings. Compatible with Tegui audio kits and video intercoms from the Series 7 and Europe Series.
  • 2-wire BUS SCS: more modern technology, allows installation of Classe 100, Classe 300, and Sfera New video intercoms with minimal wiring.
  • 3 coaxial cables: conventional video system, compatible with Tegui range monitors.

Brands: Tegui and BTicino, what’s the difference?

Tegui is the brand for the Spanish market, while BTicino is its European and international equivalent. Both belong to the Legrand group and share technology, so they are fully compatible with each other. At Tegui Distel, we are official distributors of both brands.
